We are running free taster sessions for you to find out what morris dancing is all about and give it a go. No experience at all is needed, there’s no ongoing commitment and it’s free!
Come along to one or all of the sessions on:
Tuesday 4th September
Tuesday 11th September
Tuesday 18th September
They are all from 7.30pm until 9.30pm at Linden House, Upper Mall, Hammersmith, W6 9TA. It’s on the riverside at the Western end of Upper Mall. Directions here – http://www.linden-house.org/location
Everyone over 16 is welcome to join us at these open sessions, whatever gender. You don’t need to come with anyone but if you want to bring a friend that’s fine too.
You’ll need to wear clothes you can be active and move around in and wear trainers or similar shoes.
• Dance to live music – we always do – and enjoy dancing with other people
• Find out about the origins of morris dancing, our music and the instruments we use
• Understand why we do it!
If you find you like it and want to keep on dancing we’ll talk to you at the end about the best options for you to do that. As well as Hammersmith Morris Men there is a good variety of other teams in London.
We’ll teach you the way we dance, with plenty of demonstration and at a nice, steady pace for complete beginners. You’ll leave each session having learnt the basics of at least one dance. To become fully fledged will take more practice – but it’s worth it!
It’s helpful to know if you think you might come along, though you can just turn up. Get in touch on twitter (@twfhmm); facebook (The World Famous Hammersmith Morris Men) or email firstname.lastname@example.org
